Juventus v Lazio / Italian Serie A / Round 8 / 14.10.2017

Previews, Today: Tue 18

Italian derbies are usually so full of passion and ferocity. Juventus and Lazio fixture is no exception to that. The Allianz Stadium in Turin will host this mouthwatering fixture on Saturday 14th October. Lately, this fixture has been a lot one sided and Lazio hasn’t won against The Old lady since December 2003. That’s quite some time now since they have beaten Juventus. That victory also came at their home. So a win away from home against the defending champions is a big ask as of right now.

Juventus has been quite impressive this season domestically but still quite not up to the mark as Napoli sits top of the table this time looking really serious to throw Juventus of their Perth. Juve sit second on the table with 19 points scoring 20 goals and conceding 5. Dybala has been the real deal for them as he has scored a whopping 10 goal in the league being the top scorer averaging a scintillating 56 minutes per goal. He has become their main man recently and his stats only prove how much he loves being at the center of everything. Juventus are right now trying to fill the void created by departure of Leonardo Bonucci which is evident from the amount of goals they have conceded. Aging Barzagli and Chiellini alone have a difficult task to organize the defense. A point to ponder from a side which has been famous for its defensive resilience over the years. Their recent home form although has been quite impressive as they have won 5 out of 6 games while drawing one. They last conceded a goal against Lazio in league in January 2014 which is a sigh of relief for the Juventus defense.

SS Lazio on the other hand sit 4th on the table quite impressively. Lazio have lost just one fixture out of the previous 7 while scoring 25 goals during that time while conceding 12 goals. These stats are literally self-explanatory as it is evident that Lazio are yet to find a balance between their attack and defense so that they score a lot and concede a lot less. Immobile is their main man as he is the second top scorer in Serie A with 9 goals and 3 assists to his name averaging an impressive 70 minutes per goal. They need another source of goal right now as the second highest scorer of the team is Luis Alberto with just 3 goals.

This fixture promises a lot of goals as the top two striker of the league go up against each other. Lazio don’t have an impressive record against Juventus but they can turn this around if they are to make a case for their title contention. Juventus need a victory as their usual league leaders status is at stake and they need to win these big games if they are to keep up the pressure on Napoli for the title.
